My Son’s view: What is old, is new to you…

With Jill crawling around and playing with the old baby toys, Jake thinks that they are new again. Of course I know he would not have memory of being that young, but I find it interesting that this can happen to even grownups. If you are away from something long enough, or it is out …

Running Mondays: Staying focused over busy weeks

Well, life threw a little curve ball at our family this week and the training continued. I was able to stay focused and run the miles called for by my training plan. The Friday night and Saturday morning runs were the toughest. I knew I was going to Mason City to help Mom and Dad …

Back home from Mason City

It has been a long day. I was up early to run and Jake was up as well. Then I helped get everyone settled and I was off to see Mom and Dad in the hospital. They were tired and ready to hear a plan from the doctor. Mom and Dad decided last night to …

He had quite a number of visitors today. The plan is to be discharged tomorrow, contact the afib clinic at Mayo, and get in as soon as possible. That should be either Monday or Tuesday. Dad is in better spirits this afternoon. I helped Mom return a car back home and play with the cats. …

Saturday afternoon update

Well, we finally have seen the doctors. More than 24 hours after the angiogram. The plan is to have the meds on board for 4 weeks, then come back to see if the rhythm is better. If so then they will try to shock it back. No lifevest, and we are going to Mayo Clinic …

Saturday update on Dad

Really no new news. Blood pressure is down, spirits are up. After a discussion with the nurse last night my parents have decided to go to Mayo Clinic. Dad has been up since about 5 with tests, rounds and breakfast. Mom is doing well enough so I am here to help with whatever they need. …

Friday night update on Dad

Dad is in good spirits and Mom is sounding tired. His medical team has been a little helpful and made a suggestion of wearing a LifeVest. Mom and Kathie have been discussing that option. Right now we are really leaning towards trying to get Dad up to Rochester in the Mayo Clinic. I will be …

Status update

He went in early this morning, and a blockage was found. Since his heart rhythm is not what they want to see, and it is in a spot that is not life threatening, they are going to wait for the medication to lower the blood pressure and hopefully get the rhythm back in line. Mom, Dad and the doctors will discuss more this afternoon. I plan to head down tomorrow to help Mom in anyway and will give an update as I can. Again, thanks for the prayers and well wishes.
