Breaking down your long runs (or even those boring treadmill runs) into smaller intervals/goals is one of the best options. Also, the clothing can make a difference. So I keep the DHCP open and don't enable the MAC filter. Turning that on and off for just their devices would be a pain, but if you know what devices are going to be on your network...the MAC filter and Static addressing is good.
